Critical Pedagogy for Health Professions and International Learning Experiences

Experiential and community-based learning is common in health sciences education as a transition from conceptual level coursework to application of at the practical practice levels. Programs typically focus on knowledge acquisition obtaining understanding material for initial curriculum, followed by experiential that clinical setting. To address nuances international, context, this study proposes pathway facilitating adoption new critical pedagogy accounting an increasingly globalized connected world need mediation relationship between theory global education. Bierema’s (2018) models are commonly utilized during curricular stages discussed, while Kolb’s (1984) interpretation Kurt Lewin’s offered appropriate conceptualization support development experiences. As part pedagogy, relevant, foundational theoretical approach students` should observation reflection. We recommend educators provide practice-based focuses improved outcomes so learners do not just recreate their own lived experiences order, structure power, instead use pedagogical which allows examine social conditioning biases they empowered engage, work live across cultures.
